I am a hobbyist. This means I do a lot of fun things that don’t pay the bills. In fact, they usually have a cost of their own. I am an accountant by trade, but that’s not very interesting, is it?  So I’ll stick to the fun stuff on this site.

Artistic pursuits are very tough to make a living at. For one thing, who wouldn’t want to get paid for playing music or taking pictures? Trying to make it as a pro in an artistic field is very competitive. For another, art isn’t a daily essential, and so much harder to sell than clothing and bread. But that doesn’t mean those of us who enjoy art can’t still include creative processes in our lives.

The motivation for making these pages stems from a desire to share my creative pursuits with family and friends.  Oh, and I just wanted to see how hard it would be to create an attractive website for free. With WordPress, it turns out, it’s certainly easy enough for a guy like me who knows nothing about html code. I had to struggle patiently and use the help feature for some things, but the more flexible a piece of software is, by necessity, the more complicated it is. The learning curve is steeper, but the ability to taylor and customize is usually worth the time you spend learning how to use it.

  1. Hi Erik! Do you sell your photos? I am looking for pictures of the old Olympia Brewery and I really like your infrared shots.

    • Thank you, Ann! Nice fall photos! Reminds me of some of the southern states in the U.S. Here in Washington, some leaves fall, but we have a lot of evergreen trees. Have a great day!
